English

How much time should I spend on English?

At school you have 4 hours of English lessons.  Try and get as close to 4 hours a you can.  This can include your online home learning and the activities you are asked to complete.   There are also some activities below to complete.

Reading

Each day please read by yourself or with someone for at least 10 to 15 minutes.  It doesn't matter what sort of reading this is. It could be an online article.  It could be reading a story to a younger sister or even your dog.  It could be a story by your favourite author or a recipe book.  Just read!

Spelling

Each day please do 5 to 10 minute on your key words.  Watch the video below to remind yourself how to do the look, say, cover write check method.   Your teacher will let you know which key word card to work on. ONLY WORK ON 1 OR 2 WORDS EACH DAY.  Work on the same words until you are pretty sure you know them.  Every so often go back and check you can still spell those words so that you don't forget them.

Myths

This term all three English Groups are studying Myths in the Spring Term.

Getting started

Use the card sort to make a list of mythical creatures.

Watch a film that contains mythical creatures. Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, Narnia, Alice in Wonderland, How To Train Your Dragon and many Disney films all have mythical creatures. Write a film review or make a list of all the mythical creatures you can find.

Create a mythical creature alphabet.  You might have to do some research on the internet to complete it. Remember your internet safety!
