World Book Day Activities

All of our activities today will be based on the book 'Solomon Crocodile' by Catherine Rayner.

Activity 1 Have a listen to the story here:

SOLOMON CROCODILE 🐊- STORIES FOR CHILDREN AT HOME

Mr Moon reads Solomon Crocodile, a beautifully illustrated book by Catherine Rayner, winner of the Kate Greenaway Medal.

In the story 'Solomon Crocodile' there are lots of VERBS. Verbs are action words.

Activity 2: Have a look at this PowerPoint and see if you can identify the verbs.

Activity 3: Now, have another listen to the story 'Solomon Crocodile' and see if you can idenitfy any verbs throughout the story. Write them down in a list.
Activity 4: Have a read / listen to this poem 'How Doth The Little Crocodile' by Lewis Carroll.

Activity 5: Can you identify the rhyming words in the poem? You can either write down the rhyming pairs or circle them on a printed out copy of the poem.
Activity 6: There are some fascinating videos about crocodiles on the internet. Watch this compilation of the Ten Largest Crocdiles. Afterwards, perhaps you could write some interestign facts that you found out.

Activity 7: 'Draw with Rob' is an excellent channel that helps teach children how to do simple animal drawings. Have a go at following this video to draw an alligator (very similar to a crocodile!). Don't forget to add colour to it.
