11th January 2021
Our Music over the next few weeks will have a Japanese theme to support our learning in Humanities, which is also about Japan.
In the first week, we are thinking about a very special Japanese celebration called Kodomo no hi (Children’s Day). It takes place every year on May 5th and celebrates the happiness and good fortune of children.
The many lovely traditions that are part of Kodomo no hi include Koinobori (fish-shaped kites) which are flown to celebrate each member of a family.
Please listen to the two different versions of this Children’s Song about the Koinobori. How do the songs differ? Which version do you like best? Can you say why?
Then make your own colourful Koinobori to celebrate your family. Hold it high and ‘fly’ it while playing the song one more time.
Enjoy!
