Lesson 2

Talking and Sharing

It’s now time to watch the last bit of the video story of The Paper Bag Princess.

Was the ending what you were expecting?

Think back to your last task of writing words to describe a princess and prince. Would you change any of the words now that you know a bit more about Princess Elizabeth and Prince Ronald?

Share your thoughts and ideas with a grown-up.

Today’s Task

Print out or look at the ‘story retelling prompts’ worksheet below. Or print out the prompt discs and make your own ‘retelling rope’.

Each of the seven pictures represents a different element of the story.

  • Setting
  • Characters
  • Problem
  • Beginning
  • Middle
  • End
  • Solution

Using these seven prompts, I would like you to retell the story to someone at home. You might like to follow the link below to watch three children giving their version of the story using a ‘retelling rope’ to help them.
